Welcome to Chase Hill Farm
Chase Hill Farm is a small organic certified dairy farm located in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts. Our mission is to be a source of healthy, high quality, local food created from 100% grassfed cows. Our herd of Normande cows are bred for both beef and milk production. We use sustainable low input practices including rotational grazing, seasonal calving, and draft horsepower. We are using our cheese cave built in December 2008 to store and age the cheese.

Summer 2010
Our cows are in the midst of their production cycle making lots of yummy grassfed milk. Summer is also our time for breeding for the next season of calves and milk production. Haying was great during the dry weather, now we wait for more rain… and continue milking, haying, raising calves, pigs, making cheese, moving fences, etc.

This year’s calves will be weaned soon after 4 months of nursing and then transition completely to growing on grass, hay, and water.

On Saturday, July 24, from 9-12, Mt. Grace Land Conservation Trust will be hosting a tour at our farm as part of their Local Farms-Local Food summer series. MGLCT helped protect Chase Hill Farm in 2001. Come for a walk and enjoy the views!

On Thursday, August 19th, we will be hosting a Normande Field Day here from 11-3 with the folks from Normande Genetics and other farmers looking at out herd, noting various genetic traits, and discussing the benefits of Normande cows. Our little piece of France in Massachusetts. Lunch provided.

What's New?

  • My Spanish cheese “Queso Viejo” will be available at the Amherst Farmers' Market. Come by and try some.
  • I will be using sea salt in my cheese this year to add a subtle new taste and more nutrients.
  • Our intern, Marie, will be growing vegetables on our organic land this year for a CSA-community-supported agriculture. If you’re interested in a share starting in June, contact Marie at chasehillveggies@yahoo.com for more information.

  • This year’s veal will be available for sale at market in early August. Read about our veal production and see photos in the Hampshire Gazette article by Don Lesser published on July 11th, called Natural Veal in Hampshire Life weekly magazine. On the web: dailyhampshiregazette.com.

  • Remember to put the dates for this year’s North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival on your calendar... October 2 and 3... and plan to come for everything garlic, especially garlic cheese!
